SARA ROSE BOKSMATI

Musician | Singer-Songwriter | TEDx Speaker | Advocate  | Performer

Sara Rose Boksmati is a prolific creator who uses music to bring people around her together. Sara is an Australian singer-songwriter and instrumentalist who is studying Jazz Performance at the Adelaide Conservatorium. Sara began classical piano training from the age of five, however, her interest in music and the performing arts surpassed the classical realm. Sara’s background in classical dance and piano formed her foundation of tenacity and discipline, fuelling her musical development in genres of soul and jazz, where she explores the limitlessness of improvisation along with self-accompaniment on the piano and guitar.

Throughout high school, Sara competed annually in the national ‘Generations in Jazz’ competition, in St Aloysius’ Small Jazz choir, ‘Catch 22’ and Stage Band (on keys). In 2022 and 2024, Catch 22 came first in their division, and in 2024, Sara was selected as top pianist for the Super Band in their division. In 2024, Sara performed in Adelaide Festival Centre’s Class of Cabaret program where she worked alongside Australian musicians, writers, and artists, Millicent Sarre, Mark Oates, Rosanne Hosking, Libby O’Donovan, Virginia Gay, and Ciara Ferguson; Sara achieved a merit award through the SACE component of this program. Sara’s passion for community has brought her roles of musical director in both AYT’s Junior Musical showcase, ‘Dot and the Kangaroo’ (2025), and Hive Inspire’s variety Fringe show, ‘Bloom’ (2025). Furthermore, Sara spoke at the official TEDx Victor Harbor conference in November 2025.

From an early age, Sara was most inspired by the authentic artistry and vocal timbres of musicians and artists, including Adele, Billie Eilish, and Guy Sebastian. Now, Sara is directly inspired by the vocal tone and lyrical quality showcased in the original music of artists, Lizzy McAlpine, Billie Eilish, Sienna Spiro, Tori Kelly, Cynthia Erivo, and Fiona Apple. Sara’s own musical expression offers deep audience immersion through her ability to story tell through tonal and lyrical compositions, and her music offers audiences an invitation to assess universal vulnerability and celebrate it amongst the room, aiming to uplift the energy of her crowds. During her jazz performance study, Sara has worked with American Jazz Singer-Songwriter, and NAACP Image Award Winner (2024), Jazzmeia Horn, Australian Bassist, Composer, and Grammy Award Winner (2024), Linda May Han Oh, and Australian Jazz vocalist and composers, Michelle Nicolle, and Kristin Berardi, participating in group workshops, masterclasses and discussions.
